I remember when I first started seeing ballet flats pop up on social media – about 4 months ago from when I’m writing this. I think what I was feeling was slightly alarmed, remembering these shoes being popular last when I was likely in grade 6 or 7. If ballet flats are coming back into style, could that mean that thin eyebrows and low-waisted jeans are next? Knowing I had a viscerally negative reaction to the ballet flats, I knew right then and there I wouldn’t be indulging in this trend. I just don’t like them anymore.
But that was four whole months ago, and trends have a funny way of winning you over. Seeing them styled from half of the people I follow, and seeing some of my favorite brands that I love and respect create variations of them – they are growing on me. I have seen pictures of people wearing an outfit, and actually thought “this would look better with ballet flats”… How has this happened? Seeing the repetitiveness and growth of a certain style can be very influential on how people dress themselves and decorate their homes. If you look around someone’s home or someone’s closet, it’s likely you can pick out items that belong to certain eras, and we have trends to thank for that.
Today, we’re covering 4 of the projected – and persisting – trends from Just Got 2 Have It! The four trends we’re covering today include:
- Cowgirl and Cowboy
- Good Luck
Cowgirl and Cowboy: Pinterest Predicts supports this trend with their Western Gothic aesthetic. Plus, runway fashion shows have been showing an increased number of Western-styled clothing items and accessories. Think of silver studded clothing, fringes, leather jackets, large lapels, cowboy boots and hats, silver jewelry, denim clothing and accessories, and large belt buckles. You better believe it partner – if it looks like it belongs in an old Western movie, it’s on the rise.
Mushrooms: Mushrooms are the longest standing trend on this list, as predicted from an increase in search data and product lines, but mushrooms have persistently been selling in clothing and home goods collections. You’ve likely noticed this mushroom trend in your own stores already.
Keep an eye out for mushroom shaped jewelry, mugs, candles and lamps, and also pillows, throws and textiles with a mushroom print on it. A mushroom identification book and cookbooks with mushrooms being the center focus probably would do well also!
Pickleball: Pickleball. Everyone’s doing it! Move over tennis, there’s a new racket in town. Keep an eye out for pickleball rackets and accessories, athleisure wear, water-safe jewelry, and jewelry that reflects pickleball silhouettes (like the paddle or hollow balls).
Good Luck: I really like this one. It feels optimistic, happy, and nostalgic. Think of four-leaf clovers, horse shoes, charms and trinkets!
Keep in mind, you do not have to give-in to a trend or product line if it doesn’t feel right for you or your store. They are simply a nod to what people have already been on the search for, but you can always skip it and wait for the next one that resonates with you! One thing we can be sure of is that there will always be something new that people love to obsess over!
