Save These 5 TikTok Content Ideas

Newsflash: The Crystal Media Team wants you to get comfortable with TikTok and start posting consistently.

Because of the huge success retailers are experiencing on the app, we’ve been especially spotlighting the TikTok platform for our Insider members lately. Earlier this month, we devoted our monthly, high-level marketing and social media strategy training webinar to All About TikTok for Retailers. Our weekly social media challenges often include content ideas and tips for posting on TikTok and leveraging its features. Plus, we’ve continually been creating thorough, how-to training videos on maneuvering the app to increase your comfort level with using the platform.

All of this is to say, the Crystal Media Team believes TikTok can make a huge difference for retailers. The platform wants businesses to post educational and entertaining content that helps them keep users on their app for longer. We want to help you by sharing these 5 TikTok content ideas.

Save These 5 TikTok Content Ideas Blog

TikTok Content Idea 1: Cleaning the store.

#CleanTok has been a popular category on TikTok. Users share such things as tips on tidying and show before-and-after surfaces when cleaning. I’ve also been guilty of scrolling through cleaning videos; they’re oddly calming to watch, and I always pick up a new tip on how to clean different surfaces!

Some retail-centric video content to capture could include: Sweeping the floor, putting items back in their spot after a busy rush hour, cleaning the counters, dusting off the shelves, and tidying the front entrance. This sort of content is satisfying for viewers to watch as they see the transformation of a messy-to-clean space!

TikTok Content Idea 2: Opening/closing the store.

This fun idea is a quick way to show a sneak peek into your morning. We’ve seen retailers create engaging videos showcasing their morning routine, and what goes on in the store before the first customer walks in.

Clips for this content idea could include: Walking up to your storefront with your morning drink in hand, unlocking the door, turning on all the lights, balancing the registers, and flipping your sign from “Closed” to “Open”. What a great way to welcome your viewers to shop with you in person!

TikTok Content Idea 3: A day in the life of a small business owner.

It’s likely that your day looks completely different than mine. Sharing the small moments of your day (especially as a business owner) makes for great quality content on TikTok. A day in the life of a business owner might include moments that seem mundane to you but are all new and interesting to a viewer who doesn’t own a business. This behind-the-scenes content could include: Responding to emails, showing a team meeting, buying cleaning supplies, placing an order, and taking inventory.

Pro Tip: The hashtag #DayInTheLife currently has over 5.5B views on the platform, and #DayInTheLifeOfASmallBusiness has just over 91.5k views. Use these in your captions!

TikTok Content Idea 4: Time-lapse video unpacking new arrivals.

New arrivals are a great way to show off your merchandise and create excitement and FOMO around your products. Creating a video of a team member unpacking a fresh box of new-to-your-store items gives your audience a glimpse of debuting items and keeps them engaged in the process.

A timelapse lends itself well to this content idea because the viewer sees you quickly buzzing around the boxes, revealing the new items without showing too much. The Voiceover feature can help you explain what’s happening in the video—from the category of product, you’re unboxing to when it’ll be available for purchase. Plus, TikTok has a built-in Voiceover tool!

TikTok Content Idea 5: Getting to know you. 2 Truths and a Lie.

Perhaps the easiest to implement, this content idea allows you to share fun facts about yourself or your team members. This helps your audience get to know you better, connect with your team, and build trust through a real human connection. Plus, 2 Truths and a Lie is just fun to watch and makes it similar to a game!

Some fun truths could include: An interesting vacation destination you’ve been to, a childhood injury, a favorite food, a secret tattoo, or even a degree that you haven’t put into use. As for the lie, we’ll let you get creative with that one! We can’t wait to guess which fact is the false one!

All of these content ideas can be enhanced by using best practices, trending audio, relevant hashtags, and new features. If you’re an Insider Member, check out the TikTok folder on the Clarity Portal to feel more confident tackling these TikTok content ideas.
