The Latest Features of Facebook Live

You love Facebook Live. We love Facebook Live. EVERYONE loves Facebook Live! And we’re getting more to love with the latest features rolling out on the platform. We’re so excited, we’re going to jump right in:

You’ll be able to go live from your PC or Mac.

Some users may already have this feature on their PCs, but it will be rolling out for everyone soon. When Facebook Live launched, you were only able to broadcast from your smartphone via. The Facebook App. Now you’ll be able to broadcast from your desk with a more stable camera.

You’ll be able to add Live Contributors to your page.

This feature was created to help journalists report on behalf of media outlets. Soon, you will be able to designate specific users to go Live on your page, even if they aren’t a page admin. This is useful for retailers who have a video “host” who doesn’t necessarily need to be managing their page. Like an employee who loves interacting on camera, but whose main job is to work the floor.

You’ll be able to pin Live comments.

Facebook Live videos get 10 times the comments that traditional videos get. It’s easy for an important comment to be lost in all of the hustle and bustle. Facebook is rolling out the ability to pin comments to the bottom of a live feed so that specific comments can be highlighted.

You’ll be able to access an archive of your past Live videos.

When you finish up your Live broadcast, the video appears on your page’s timeline with a unique link. But there is no place to go to browse all of your page’s past broadcasts as well as pre-recorded videos. Until now! Facebook will be creating video permalinks that follow the format facebook.com/pagename/videos.

You’ll be able to live stream to multiple pages at once.

When you finish a broadcast, you can now post it to multiple pages. This is great news for store owners who own multiple businesses and are regularly posting to each of them.

You can schedule your Facebook Live broadcasts.

We know it sounds a little bit weird to schedule something on Facebook Live, but as a busy store owner, you never know when you’ll get a few minutes to record a video. This feature was introduced for verified pages in October, and started to become available to all users in late November. When you schedule a Live broadcast, a post will appear allowing your followers to request a notification when it starts – a helpful tool to boost your broadcast’s turnout.
