Here’s a question from last month that retailers were buzzing about:
Retailer Question:
Last year, June was our slowest month. It was so pitiful. I’m determined to make this June a success! I would love to hear your ideas for summer events (still working on July and August)!
Crystal Media’s Answer:
I would definitely lean into National Days!
For July:
July 5th – National Bikini Day. If customers come in wearing a bathing suit as a top or on top of their clothes, they receive a $5.00 gift card that day! You can make it specific if you’d like the gift card to go toward summer/beach gear/decor, etc.!
July 10th – National Kitten Day. You could consider inviting a local pet adoption company to come to the store with kittens that are up for adoption and host a meet and greet to celebrate National Kitten Day!
July 25th – National Wine & Cheese Day! You could have local wineries do a pop-up at your location and host a “sip and shop” event. You may require a daily liquor license to do this, but when I worked in a retail store, we would host a “sip and shop” quarterly and it was a great way for customers to bring in their friends and make a day out of it!
For August:
August 8th – National Dollar Day. If the customer spends a certain amount of money, they can take home an item valued at $25 and under for $1.00 OR you could print a bunch of $1.00 gift cards and hide them throughout your town/neighborhood and people can search for them and spend them on National Dollar Day!
August 9th – National Book Lovers Day. Invite a local author to come into the store to do a special reading of their book (have them share a chapter or so). They can also sell and sign the book there. If you already sell the book in your store, that would be great!
August 30th – National Beach Day. Create bundles for your store with sale items from the summer.
