In Crystal Media’s Insider Facebook group, we scour the retailer questions for the most talked-about topics to share the answers that we know all store owners can benefit from.
Here’s a question from last month that retailers were buzzing about:
Retailer Question:
When I save a Reel as a draft, I lose the audio and the overlay text when I go back to post it. Am I doing something wrong, or is this an Instagram thing?
Crystal Media’s Answer:
Reels on Instagram have been going through some major updates the past few weeks with rearranging where features are and editing capabilities. New changes always lead to bugs, which is likely what you’re experiencing.
I always try to save the Reel to my camera roll using the downward facing arrow on the top editing menu BEFORE adding in music, so it doesn’t completely strip the audio when I am ready to make edits or save the video.
What I would recommend is to update your Instagram app whenever there is a new update available in the app store. You can search “Instagram” in the app store, and if it says “Open”, you have the latest version. If it says “Update”, then you can go forward with that.
Also restarting your device at least once a week can help with device glitches!
