Insider Q: How to create consistent content (when you’re not at the store every day)

In Crystal Media’s Insider Facebook group, we scour the retailer questions for the most talked-about topics to share the answers that we know all store owners can benefit from.

Here’s a question from last month that retailers were buzzing about:

Retailer Question:

I don’t work full-time in our stores, so I’m finding it difficult to create content and showing up consistently (news feed posts are not an issue for me since I can pre-record or take photos and schedule those). I know that engaging (talking, showing the store/products, showing behind the scenes, etc) is better than still photos, but how is everyone able to create content if you’re not at the store every day? Are you recording multiple days at a time then scheduling those to each platform? Are other staff members posting on your social media accounts when you’re away?

I am able to easily create and schedule posts for our news feeds with still photos, so that’s not a problem. It’s the daily multiple stories and Reels that I’m struggling with that are “spur of the moment” (especially the multiple TikToks per day).

Crystal Media’s Answer:

This is a great question! I often batch filming and collect/film a lot of content in one day, then create videos and posts from the filmed content for the next week or so. I usually have one day where I’ll do my hair and makeup and the whole deal to get some content filmed!

I also find that when I have some spare time (rewatching a favorite show, or maybe being a passenger in a car), I’ll build the content and save it in a Draft on Reel and TikTOk until I’m ready to post.

You can also utilize the Voiceover tool and GIFs to add on to still photos to create videos from them/more engaging Stories. For example, you may have a photo of the front of your store. Add an “Open’ sign GIF to the Story and film a Voiceover on top, sharing your hours for the day. It would make a great Story for a day that you’re not heading into the store to film content!
