In Crystal Media’s Insider Facebook group, we scour the retailer questions for the most talked-about topics to share the answers that we know all store owners can benefit from.
Here’s a question from last month that retailers were buzzing about:
I am trying to get someone else added as an administrator on our store’s Instagram page and I’m not finding the right way to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You would think it would be under account settings…
Crystal Media’s Answer:
Hey there, great question! We get this one quite a bit.
Unfortunately, there is no way to add an admin on Instagram without giving them the login. To have another person run the Instagram account, you will have to share the following information with them:
-Any double authentication features you may have added. You may have added a phone number for double authentication, or potentially the use of a third party app. If you have done this, be prepared to share a login code or verify that it is you logging in when this new admin is logging in to your account.
Some tips for sharing your login:
- Be sure you update your password at least yearly and share it with all the admins you would like to join. This helps make sure you are up to Instagram’s standard for password length.
- Store your new password on a doc, such as a “Passwords” Google Sheet, for easy access. Be sure to update the doc if you update your password.
- Make your Instagram password unique to your other business passwords. This is a precaution JUST in case things go sour, or you don’t want this particular admin to be able to guess the passwords for other logins.
I hope this is helpful!
