How to Create Free Listings on Google Shopping

Did you know that you can show your products on Google for FREE? They call it free listings and it’s included in the Google shopping programs.

Basically, the free listings program is Google’s way of enticing sellers to be in their shopping ecosystem and eventually advertise through this platform. If you don’t have the budget for ads, you can still maximize free listings to showcase your products online and even bring traffic to your website. With free listings, your products are displayed across different Google channels, like the Shopping tab, Google Search, Google Images, Google Maps, and Google Lens.

Now that you know what free listings are, how do you get started? Here at Crystal Media, we’re always happy to help, so I’m sharing the easy 2-step process below to get your products listed.

  • Create an account on Google Merchant Center. Simply follow the steps on their onboarding page and you’re good to go.
  • Set up free product listings. Follow their onboarding guide here. Note that to activate free product listings, you’ll need to complete the following setup requirements in Merchant Center.
    1. Claimed website
    2. Product Feed
    3. Minimum product data
    4. Additional product data
    5. Shipping
    6. Tax

In addition to posting products for free, Google also has Insights (located in Merchant Center), so that you can evaluate the performance of your free listings and how much engagement they’re driving. Awesome, right?

We know how important it is for you to get your products in front of your PCGs (perfect customer groups), whether online or locally. That’s why I think this Google listing tool is perfect for you. Plain and simple, it helps you showcase your products on a broader scale for FREE.

What I Want You To Take Away From This Blog:

  • Frequently check insights to track and test your listings
Okay, over to you…

Any questions on this tool or other best practices for getting in front of your customers online? We’re always happy to help! Simply leave a message in the comments!
