We all know that social media changes in a snap! Blink and you’ll miss new updates, features and tools. From advertising changes due to iOS, to new features, there may be Facebook updates you’ve missed due to the ever-changing nature of social media. Our team of experts stays on top of these updates, researching, learning, and testing Facebook updates so we can keep our community of small businesses informed. I’ve put together a roundup of what’s new!
iOS 14:
Easily the biggest change recently is the new Apple iOS update. With the new iOS, Apple users will now be asked if they want their data tracked. It will ask users for each app, including Facebook and Instagram. This will affect your website audiences and your ability to track what people do on your site. How can you prepare? Verify your domain and set up your standard events. This is done through Business Manager and is the best thing you can do right now to be set up for success.
Video Insights:
If you know us at all by now, you know we will never stop talking about video! It is the most engaging content by far. If you haven’t peeked at your Facebook Insights recently, head on over. It looks a bit different and is now under Creator Studio, and is packed full of info like Average Watch Time, Top Videos and Retention. This is useful information that you should use when filming videos.
You can now schedule Stories from the Business Suite:
Woo-hoo! You can now schedule your Stories from the same place you schedule posts. This will help streamline your social media process since you can now knock out all your postings on the go. Learn more about creating great Stories in our blog post, 15 Instagram Hacks To Create Terrific Stories.
Don’t be surprised if you stop seeing Likes on posts.
This change has been in the works for awhile (2019), but it might also be coming to Facebook. For now, it will be up to individual users to choose what they prefer to see (found under Reaction preferences). IG says this will help “depressurize” people’s experience with the platform.
