3 Summer Content Ideas for Retailers

This sunny season may have people enjoying the outdoors, BBQs and late-night events, but that doesn’t mean they’re spending less time scrolling on social media while lounging by the pool or enjoying a drink on the patio!

Here are 3 summer content ideas for retailers to use before we welcome fall!

Idea 1: Lean into Pop Culture.

We suggest leaning into pop culture whenever you’re able to as a retailer! One of the best ways to do that is by relating your items to something going on in pop culture. In the past, we’ve seen retailers relate their animal print boutique clothing to Netflix’s viral Tiger King, or share all their dark items in a carousel to relate to the popular show Wednesday, that came out in 2022.

Currently, Barbie is creating all the buzz! Try creating a Reel using trending audio and sharing various items from your store every time someone says “Hi Barbie”.

Here are a few great examples of businesses using this audio and leaning into this pop culture trend:

  • @thecountylibrary
  • @shoptherunwayboutique

Idea 2: Use an Engagement Sticker.

Using Engagement Stickers is a great way to show your audience you want to hear from them—whether it’s their opinion or their vote on a poll. There are a ton of opportunities for retailers to stop the scroll by using an Engagement Sticker in their Reels or Stories. By doing so, you’ll show the algorithm just how engaged your audience really is! Here are a few to try out.

“Add Yours” engagement sticker graphic

FB Story: Use the “Add Yours” Engagement Sticker and upload a picture of your storefront. Use this prompt in the sticker: “Fave Spot in [Insert Your Town Name]”.

IG Reel: Film a short video of a new arrival and use the emoji reaction slider to have your audience show how much they love it.

IG Story: Film a video sharing details of your favorite day of the summer so far, then ask your audience to share theirs using the Question Box Engagement Sticker.

Idea 3: Use a new feature or platform.

Threads is the latest app by Meta and is very similar to Twitter, as users can post Threads using just words or by adding in links and images. We suggest hopping on this new app as there is less competition and a lot of growth to be had right now!

Try using some of your existing product descriptions with a link to purchase a Thread idea, or use some of your Instagram captions as a great way to share product recommendations on this new app!

What I Want You To Take Away From This Blog:

  • Reference popular shows, celebrity moments, or music in your content to lean into pop culture.
  • Use Engagement Stickers to stop the scroll and get your audience reacting to your content.
  • Accounts using new features and platforms are generally rewarded.

Okay, over to you…
