The Modern Marketing Show, Episode 13: 3 Foolproof Ways to Check Social Off Your To-Do List

It’s scientifically proven that when you write something down you’re more likely to remember it later. That’s why checklists and to-do lists are important to helping you run your business smoothly. They help you prioritize tasks to ensure you’re getting things done, and this should include your social media. Plus, if you’re anything like the Social Edge Team you love to write something down on your to-do list just to scratch it off once it’s done!

Watch the full episode:

Retailers are always saying to us how social is hard to get to or they forget to post because they get caught up with a million other things in their store, but here’s what you need to remember…social media is how you’re marketing your business and how you’re driving traffic to your business, it can’t keep getting pushed to the bottom of your list.

We wanted to share with you three simple ways to check social off your to-do list while also improving your overall productivity in store. Challenge: Pick one of the three ways below and implement it into your routine this week. Then leave a comment on this post to let us know how it worked for you.

#1: Add social media as a task to your open/close checklists

This is a task that should be getting done every single day, and it doesn’t have to take much time at all. You can pick one product you have for sale in your store or needs help being pushed and create a post about it in 15 minutes or less.

#2: Write it down on a physical calendar/schedule using pen and paper

Have all your major events, sales, and promotions on the calendar, so you can then work backward to plan your social posts accordingly. Then every week you should have written down what you’re going to be posting and when.

#3: Use a project management tool like Asana

Asana is what we use here at Social Edge – we live and breathe by our Asana calendars. This combines your checklists and calendar and makes it digital. They also have a mobile app, so you can access your calendar anytime.

It’s important to have a way for you and your entire team to see what’s going on in the business and a way to stay organized in order to get important tasks done. Without a system, in place, you’re not going to effectively market your business, leave a lot of money on the table, and stress yourself out for leaving things to the last minute.
